MiMiC SIO Tag Licensing for DeltaV Simulations

The purpose of this application note is to show how SIO Tags are counted in MiMiC for DeltaV simulations.

MiMiC systems are licensed per the number of Simulated IO (SIO) Tags in Nodes in run status in the system. Licenses are available in 1000 SIO Tag increments from 1000 to 30,000 SIO Tags.

To estimate your SIO Tag requirements for DeltaV, use the following guidelines:

• One SIO Tag per AI, DI DeltaV Function Block
• One SIO Tag per Register Used for DeltaV Serial IO references
• Two SIO Tags per AO, DO Function Blocks in DeltaV Simulate  workstations – out + feedback (or feedback tracks output)
• Two SIO Tags per AO, DO Foundation Fieldbus Function Blocks – out + feedback (or feedback tracks output)

To view your SIO Tag usage, go to the MiMiC Explorer, Simulation Database tab, as shown below.

SIO Tags per node are shown in the MiMiC Explorer viewing pane by selecting Modeling. By moving your curser over the Site ID field in the lower left, a license summary window appears that shows the licensed SIO Tag count and the Used SIO Tag count.
