The PLC IO System Interface allows migration from existing proprietary PLC IO systems such as GE Genius Bus, Modicon S908 Remote IO, and Allen-Bradley 1771 Remote IO, to any modern control system using the Modbus TCP/IP protocol, without replacing or rewiring those IO systems. This allows the user to migrate an automation system with shorter process downtime and much lower costs.

The PLC IO Interface is a proven technology installed in process plants all over the world. The PLC IO Interface was the recipient of Control Engineering's Editors' Choice Award for innovative, breakthrough technologies. See complete story.

Key Features of the PLC IO Interface

  • Industrial Interface hardware module is compact, rugged and mounts on a DIN rail. Included with the module is the DeltaV Programmable Interface firmware, and the PLC Explorer configuration program.
  • All configuration is done in the host system and the included PLC Explorer configuration utility. No additional configuration of interface tables or data mapping is required.
  • Designed and optimized for process control. Modules in the controller can use the signals from the proprietary IO network like standard IO.
  • Interface uses high-speed Industrial Ethernet over open Modbus TCP/IP protocol.
