Mimic Simulation

It's that time of year again! As the year is coming to an end and things are winding down for the holiday break, we think it's important to take a step back and reflect on what 2015 has brought and what we have accomplished.

As it was for many in our industry, 2015 was a challenging year for the oil & gas part of our business, but we are so proud of how our dynamic team quickly shifted our industry focus to continue having a successful year. We are so grateful we were able to survive and thrive during this unexpected market change and in typical MYNAH fashion, we had some fun while doing so!

2015 in Summary

New Employees

This year we hired 10 engineering interns and co-ops to work with our Simulation Project and Application Engineering teams:

Claire Schroeder
Simulation Project Intern
Greg Velders Simulation Project Intern
Rahul Neogi Simulation Project Co-op
Clement Koh Simulation Project Co-op
Shreyas Bhandare Simulation Project Co-op
Siddarth AshokkumarSimulation Project Co-op
Pramod Bangalore Simulation Project Co-op
Shayan Sazdar Application Engineering Intern
Bryan Love Application Engineering Intern
Erik Woltjen Simulation Project Intern

    Simulation Project Engineering Team

Along with the projects they are currently working on, our Simulation Project Engineering team has completed 15 sizable projects during 2015 in the following industries: chemical, mining, pulp & paper, oil & gas, corn wet milling, life sciences, to name a few!

    Application Engineering Team

A couple years ago we named our AEs the MYNAH S.W.A.T. team and they definitely lived up to that title in 2015! On top of VDS consulting and simulation projects, running our internal IT department and teaching Mimic training courses, this team of 5 have closed approximately 1260 support cases this year.

3 of our Application Engineers hit a big milestone this year! Jay Chard, Jake Nichelson and Matt Welsh have each closed 1000 support cases during their time at MYNAH. Congrats to you all and thanks for all you do for customers!

    Development Team

Our development team has always worked tirelessly to make sure our products are constantly improving and this year was no exception. In 2015 they released:

    • 2 new versions of Mimic Simulation Software: Mimic v3.6.0 and v3.6.1 (3.6.2 is coming very soon...stay tuned!)
    • 12 updated versions of our VIM drivers and Serial Drivers.

    Tradeshows & Conferences

Trade shows are the highlight of our business development team's year and this year is no exception. We love these opportunities to get out and talk face to face with our customers and partners. This year we attended, exhibited and presented at the following:

    • Rockwell Automation's TechED: San Diego, CA
The MYNAH team exhibited and Spencer Absher (Simulation Solution Engineer) presented "Building the Virtual Plant Utilizing PlantPAx System"
    • Emerson Exchange: Denver, CO
The MYNAH team exhibited the our team members presented the following:
      - "Leaving the Kids in Charge...Building Effective Technology Teams Using Younger Professionals" - Mart Berutti (President/COO)
      - "Preparing the Next Generation of Ethylene Operators" - Zach Sample (Lead Project Engineer)
      - "Critical Techniques to Prevent Process Instability" - Greg McMillan (Modeling & Control Consultant)
    • Rockwell's Automation Fair & Process Solutions User Group: Chicago, IL
The MYNAH team exhibited at Automation Fair and Pierce Wu (Lead Project Engineer) presented "Building Your Centralized Training Platform for a Complex Process" at PSUG.

    Giving Back

For the second year in a row, we were given the opportunity to sponsor the "Virtus Dynamic Chemical Engineering Student Award 2015" given by the local St. Louis chapter of the AiCHE. This award was given to the Chemical Engineering student with the highest GPA at three local univerisities. The 2015 winners are:

    • Xiaotong Duan, Washington University in St. Louis. Tong is graduating in May and will continue her studies at Stanford University, pursuing a Masters in Chemical Engineering.
    • Rebecca Bass, University of Missouri. Rebecca will also graduate in May and is currently evaluating several offers of employment as a chemical engineer.
    • Shayan Sazdar, Missouri University of Science and Technology. Shayan will continue his studies this summer as he pursues his Chemical Engineering degree and is currently evaluating several other additional engineering degrees.
Mike Gentilcore- AIChE Section Chair, Rebecca Bass- University of Missouri, Shayan Sazdar- Missouri S&T, Xiaotong Duan- Wash U, and Mart Berutti-MYNAH Technologies

Along with all the craziness at the office, a couple of our MYNAH team members had some very exciting life changing events take place:

    • Zach Sample (Lead Project Engineer) married Falyn Smith in March.
    • David DeVoss (Simulation Project Engineer) married Ellen DeVoss in October.
    • Edin Rakovic (Application Engineering Manager) and his wife, Alma, welcomed their daughter, Ela in February.
    • Truynh Tran (Simulation Project Engineer) and his wife, Linh, welcomed their daughter Caroline in August.

Congrats to you all! We love how much our MYNAH family is growing!

As we all know, 2015 started off with some unpredictable turn of events and it is the challenging times that makes us even more grateful for our amazing partners and customers. Thank you all for being so great to work with throughout the past year.
