Mimic Computer Hardware and Operating System Requirements

In all cases Mimic requirements specify CPU and RAM as listed below and a separate 10/100 Network Interface Card for the simulation network. Video card and monitor size are per user preference, but we recommend a 512Mb video card w/ Dual monitor capability.

Supported Operating Systems

  • MS Windows 7 SP1
  • MS Windows 8.1
  • Windows Server 2008 / Server 2008 R2 SP1 (required to use Mimic Server Option)/ Server 2012 / Server 2016
  • Windows 10

64-bit Operating Systems are recommended

Please note that Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 are no longer supported

Minimum Hardware Specifications (up to 5,000 SIO Tags)

  • Intel 2.5 GHz core i5 or 2.0GHz Xeon E5 processor
  • 4.0 GB Ram
  • 80 GB free Hard Drive*
  • Dell Optiplex 960 or equivalent

Minimum Hardware Specifications (5,000 - 15,000 SIO Tags)

  • Intel 3.0 GHz core i7 or 2.5 GHz Xeon E7 processor
  • 8.0 GB Ram
  • 80 GB free Hard Drive*
  • Dell Precision T7500 or equivalent

Minimum Server Option Requirements

  • MS Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1
  • Microsoft Remote Desktop Services with sufficient Client Access Licenses
  • 256 MB RAM, per remote user, in addition to the system minimums

Mimic Hard Disk Usage

  • 160 MB for Program Files
  • 7 MB per database backup (average), located in the same directory as the database
  • 10 MB per Snapshot (average), located in the same directory as the database

C:\Program Data is a hidden directory. Mimic databases will be located in the sub-directory \MYNAH Technologies\Mimic. To access it, enable viewing of hidden files in the Windows Explorer folder and search options, or click on the File menu in Mimic Exploer and choose Open File Folder > Current Database.
