This technical note provides a fix for error: CfgMismatch - Cfg: Prog. Serial Card, 2 Ports, RS232/RS485, S Series; Actual: Unsupported Card when installing DeltaV Ethernet IO Card.
This issue is caused by a mismatch in reported vs. expected Serial card hardware version number. The S Series DeltaV Controller is expecting the VIM/VIM2 to emulate the S Series supported Serial Cards. A parameter specified in the VIM/VIM2 placeholder configuration in VimNet Explorer is used to select the appropriate emulation for M Series vs. S Series controllers. Currently, we offer information on the physical connections for Using DeltaV M Series Virtual IO Modules S Series Controllers.
The DeltaV Diagnostics screenshot below will display the error indicated in Figure 1 below.
The solution to this problem is to configure VimNet Explorer VIM/VIM2 properties with the correct configuration based on the DeltaV Controller Series. There are two cases to take into account and Figure 2 indicates the option that needs to be changed.
Please keep in mind that if any configuration is to be changed the VIM/VIM2 must be decommissioned. After the change is made, the VIM/VIM2 must be commissioned and uploaded.
