DeltaV Virtual IO Module Network Gateway S-Series LED Indicator Changes

The S-Series Virtual IO Module (VIM) Network Gateway provides the exact DeltaV IO interface to Industrial Ethernet networks and devices as the M-Series VIM. Changes between the M-Series and S-Series LED hardware display are described below.

LED Indicators

The VIM has six LEDs in front. Top to bottom, these are as follows:

Green Power - V shaped LED above "DeltaV"
Red Fault - Triangle shaped LED beneath "VIM"
Green Active - ☼
Green Standby - ☉
Amber Network Communications - Pri
Amber DeltaV Controller Railbus Communications - Sec

The VIM LEDs can have three states: On, Off, or Blink. The following table describes the VIM operational state as indicated by the LEDs:

Green ON

The VIM is Decommissioned. It does not have an assigned IP address.

Use the VIMNet Explorer to configure a VIM placeholder. The VIM placeholder contains the IP address for your network. Then commission the VIM as described in Commission a Simplex Virtual IO Module.

Green ON

The VIM is Commissioned. It is not communicating on the Railbus.

Verify that the DeltaV controller has been downloaded. Also, verify that the field device configuration has been uploaded into the VIM from the VIMNet Explorer.
