These release notes are for changes made to the Ethernet/IP VIM firmware for v3.4.3. The previous general released firmware version is v3.4.1. The flash procedure is documented in the product manual
This firmware release is MANDATORY for all Ethernet/IP VIM users at or prior to firmware v3.3.64.
On read requests, the SLC returns an incorrect string as part of the response. The issue is that for concatenated strings where the resulting string is smaller in size than the previous, leftover characters from the previous string are also transmitted.
For example, the following string contains a number of concatenated substrings:
If the last substring 123456 is replaced with abc, the new string in the PLC is as follows:
However, the string transmitted to the VIM is as follows:
This defect has been correct by using the transmitted sting length to determine where the transmitted string ends.
Default Gateway support has been added to the VIM functionality. By using a router, the VIM can access devices
on another network. This functionality is supported in both Simplex and Redundant modes, and is configured as part of the VIM properties.
Note: VIMNet Explorer v220.127.116.11 or later is required. If the Gateway field is disabled in the VIM properties dialog, you can enable it in the Registry by adding the following key. After adding the key, restart the VIMNet Explorer. The key is EnableDefaultGateway, DWORD, with a value of 1.
