The following release notes are for the Ethernet/IP VIM v3.6.1
These release notes are for changes made to the Ethernet/IP VIM firmware for v3.6.1. The previous general released firmware version is v3.5.4. The flash procedure is documented in the product manual.
This firmware release is RECOMMENDED for all Ethernet/IP VIM firmware v3.5.x users. It is MANDATORY for all Ethernet/IP VIM users at or prior to firmware v3.3.64.
1. Dataset scan request/response time has been improved significantly through optimization of Ethernet/IP stack message handling resources.
2. Two new Special Data 5 flags (highlighted in table below) have been added to support redundant communications to a ControlLogix PLC where one network connection is to an ENBT or EN2T card, while the second network connection is directly to the PLC CPU channel 0 port via an Ethernet/IP to Serial converter like the 1761-NET-ENI module. Respectively, where the first network connection requires a path specification, the second does not. The Special Data 5 flags inform the VIM regarding which connection is pathless. The flags are as follows. A bit set to 1 implies an asserted flag, and flag values may be added to assert more than one flag. Unspecified flags are reserved.

|10||1024||When specified, the first 4 16-bit words of the output dataset are used for communication status. On loss of communication, the ControlLogix fills these words with all bits set.|
3. Modified UCMM (Encapsulated DF1) message structure to support communication with DH485 devices via the DataLink GW1000 Gateway.
4. Added diagnostic log message to track Ethernet/IP stack memory usage.
