VIMNet Explorer v9.5.3.1 Release Notes
By Nobin William
Product: DeltaV Virtual IO Module - VIM1

These release notes are for the VIMNet Explorer Utility version 9.5.3.1. The previous version is 9.5.2.1 and 9.5.3.0.

Who Should Upgrade?

This upgrade contains an automatic check of the serialized configuration VIO file on each load. This check verifies the port and device mapping of serial datasets. Mapping discrepancies are automatically corrected and the VIO files are marked as modified to prompt for save on exit. This modification applies to all driver configurations which use serial datasets (FMC, Modbus, or ODVA VIM’s).

Defects Corrected

VIO files from previous versions of VIMNet may contain corrupted port/device dataset masks, resulting in miss-matched numbering of the datasets in FHX export and upload. At run-time, the VIM is unable to initialize connections to the field. This is automatically corrected during load of the older VIO file.

What's New?

  1. Includes support for Siemens I-Device with Shared Device enabled.
  2. Transfer Areas can be removed from the VIM config, allowing other PROFINET IO Controllers to share the I-Device (9.3.0).
